Fowler Farms is the very definition of a strong, family-farming tradition — now spanning six generations. Each new generation has carried the Fowler name forward — along with the same strong work ethic and high standards as the one before. So it’s no surprise that when Austin Fowler was a boy, he knew he wanted to be a part of the family farming business. He started out from the bottom — digging irrigation ditches and essentially being a jack of all trades, learning his family’s business. Today, after returning from college, he and his cousin JD are the sixth generation to run Fowler Farms — the largest grower of Honeycrisp and Sweet Tango in New York State. What’s more, Fowler Farms is the largest fresh apple grower in the state with over 30 varieties and 30 acres of certified organic land to meet consumer demand. Not being ones to rely on others, Fowler is vertically integrated and grows its own apple trees, which means they’re not dependent on nurseries. JD’s focus is on the pre-harvest side, managing the growing process. Austin’s focus is on the post-harvest side, managing storage, packing, sales and marketing.

BITE A CRUNCHTIME APPLE. SUPPORT A FARMER.

When you bite into a Crunch Time apple, you’re not just tasting an incredible apple, but the incredible love and labor of 147 family farmers across New York State. Every CrunchTime apple is non-GMO — super crunchy, delightfully juicy, beautifully colored and carefully grown. Plus, when you purchase a Crunch Time apple, you’re biting into a little history while also helping to sustain the future of family farming for generations to come.

To be a successful apple farmer, you need to be a Jack of all trades. It’s one of my favorite parts about running this family farm with my cousin JD
